Course overview
Course description
The British Museum is the most significant ancient Egyptian display in the UK. It includes a wide-ranging collection of pieces from the small to monumental from Predynastic artefacts to Graeco-Roman pieces which are almost 4000 years later.
In this tour we will start unusually with a visit to the Enlightenment Gallery, where Egyptian objects are displayed in a manner similar to the early days of the museum. After this we will move to the Egyptian Sculpture Gallery to view a range of pieces of multiple periods. If time allows we will briefly move upstairs to Rooms 64 and 65 (Early Egypt and Nubia).
You will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the pieces as we make our way round.
