Course description

This single session course is aimed at any learners and you do not have to have any previous experience to sign up to the session. Learn the importance of reusing fabric and what you can do with clothing that is too poor in condition to go to the charity shops, while having fun making these great projects.

On the day you will need cotton scraps that will be cut into strips or pieces of old clothing such as shirts, pillowcases or other woven fabrics such as tablecloths, cotton trousers etc. In the first part of the session you will learn how to make fabric twine from strips that can be used to tie up plants, wrap gifts and use like a thick string and during the second part of the session we will focus on a fun shabby chic tassel to use in the home, too which you could add some fancy pieces of ribbon or lace if you wish.

During the 2 hours you will get to share what you have made with other learners and benefit from having fun in the comfort of your own home. This course will give you an introduction to handling textiles and fabric and give you the step you need to signing up to other sewing and textiles based courses with the WEA.
