Course description
The tour will incorporate the following buildings, features and statues · Sainsbury Wing of National Gallery which was opened in 1991. · Trafalgar Square 1844: Nelson’s column, the various sculptures the ever-changing 4th plinth. · St Martin-in-the-Fields: An English Anglican church dedicated to Saint Martin of Tours · Grand Trunk Railway Building · Admiralty Arch: Completed in 1912. It was commissioned by King Edward VII in memory of his mother, Queen Victoria. · Horse Guards Parade: The ceremonial parade ground in St James's Park · Banqueting House 1625 · Statues: Prince George, Duke of Cambridge (1819-1904), Duke of Devonshire (1911), Field Marshal Douglas · Three 20th Century WW2 British Military Leaders on Raleigh Green in Whitehall: · Women Of World War Two. The Monument to the Women of World War II is a British national war memorial near the Cenotaph · Downing Street. Prime Minister Harold Wilson was photographed as a young boy in front of no. 10 – but the heavy gates we now see were installed after the 1979 assassination of Lord Mountbatten.
