Course overview

This drama course is designed for adult learners with Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities (LLDD). The course encourages participants to explore their personal and community milestones. Time, planets, and seasons Learners will use these concepts as a basis for creating characters and stories, drawing inspiration from both personal experiences and seasonal events. The course aims to foster creativity, build confidence, and develop storytelling skills in an inclusive and safe environment. Guided by an experienced tutor, participants will gain a deeper understanding of their own identities and the events that populate their lives.

Course description

This engaging drama course, tailored for adult learners with Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities (LLDD), harnesses the transformative power of storytelling and performance to enhance personal and communal narratives. The course seeks to empower participants by fostering creativity and community connection in an inclusive and safe environment. Central to the course is the concept of the movements of the Planets influencing time. Participants will delve into time associated special days and events, uncovering the rich tapestry of personal memories and events associated with times of the day, week, month, year. These explorations will serve as the foundation for creating compelling characters and narratives, allowing learners to express their unique perspectives and experiences. The course structure includes a variety of interactive drama activities, such as improvisation, role-play, and script development, music and movement, all designed to build confidence and enhance communication skills. By interpreting and dramatizing special days and events of the year participants will not only develop their storytelling abilities but also deepen their understanding of their personal and community identities. Guided by an experienced tutor, the course ensures a supportive and nurturing atmosphere where all learners feel valued and heard.
