This five week course will explore British Women’s Short stories from the twentieth century. The five stories are: Mysterious Kor - Elizabeth Bowen. The House of the Famous Poet - Muriel Spark. Flesh and the Mirror - Angela Carter. The Lotus - Jean Rhys. My Wife is a White Russian - Rose Tremain. All texts are found in the recommended course text: The Penguin Book of Modern British Short Stories, edited by Malcolm Bradbury. These stories will introduce you to the richness of women’s authors throughout the last century and will give rise to lively discussions and analysis.

This course will introduce one of the most fascinating of English poets from the period of the Great War. This is Ivor Gurney, poet and musician and friend of Edward Thomas. We will examine a range of his poetry, spanning his earliest work to those late poems that he wrote while committed to an asylum in the post-war years. We will discover his life, his friendships and his world, placing his poetry, music and madness in the context of his life and his world. The course will analyse his work in detail over five weeks and will provide ample scope for lively discussion.

Maybe you notice a stranger lurking in the background of the photo that throws everything off. Not to worry, there are tools that can help you remove areas of an image without leaving a trace! This photo editing course teaches you how to to add text to images and apply effects and filters. Crop (remove) unwanted areas of an image. Customise templates and create a collage. Add animation and save as a video or animated gif for a website.

Students need to be residing in London and have their Work Placements in London. The course will be taught online, but the funding is ONLY eligible to students residing in London.

The term will begin with an analysis of the condition of the remaining Christian Principalities of the Holy Land and the challenges they would face in the wake of the failure of the Second Crusade. In particular a continued study will be made of the growth and achievement of the Zengid dynasty, and how that would contribute to the further endangerment of Outremer. We will also look at the continued efforts of the Kingdom of Jerusalem to strengthen its own position within the region, and why those efforts would ultimately lead to further failure at the Battle of Hattin.
