On this course you will discover that it is possible to make a loom from a variety of materials, even from something as simple as a piece of card, a branch, etc. You will also explore how to use more than just wool to weave with and how to prepare alternative materials for weaving. You will gain knowledge about how threads are interlaced to create a woven fabric and what the different threads are called and how to use them to create patterns and texture in piece of woven textile art. You will also discover how weaving can be beneficial to your health, helping you to “be in the moment” and create a calming environment.

Come and try your hand at calligraphy, you do not need to be an artist to enjoy modern Calligraphy. The aim of the course is to give a solid grounding exploring different aspects of this fascinating craft. Working with easily available equipment and simple techniques.

This course is designed to ignite your imagination and help you express your creativity through mixed media art journaling. Whether you're a beginner, who would like to try a new hobby, or a more experienced crafter on this course we will look at a variety of techniques and different mediums to create unique, expressive journal pages. No prior art experience is necessary- just an open mind and a desire to explore your creativity. During this course we will: • Look at the fundamentals of art journaling and it’s benefit for personal expression. • Experiment with variety of techniques such as drawing, doodling, painting and collage. • Develop your own style showcasing your creativity • Learn how to use prompts to inspire your journal pages. • Build your confidence in using art as a form of self expression.

Join us for this practical course aimed at improvers to explore creative ideas & learn techniques for making cards & decorative items with the personal touch for birthdays and Easter. Be inspired by the seasonal change to use cheerful colours and motifs. You will extend your papercraft skills to create handmade card, gift boxes and bags, and decorations. We will craft together step by step during the sessions & discuss ways the projects can be adapted, there will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and share ideas. Learners will explore the choices of different papers, colours, patterns to suit the different projects. Projects will be discussed at the start of the course & different items will be made each week. You will be able to build upon skills learnt to experiment and perhaps inspire independent projects. Spring & Easter themes will be included in the projects. This course will explore possibilities to inspire creativity. This course is ideal for enthusiastic crafters wanting to experiment with different ideas that can be used for different occasions.

The UK construction industry is renowned for high standards expected from both its workers and its employers. Learn what these expectations are and why these are important to employers. Discover which organisations offer construction opportunities and how to access these. Develop knowledge and awareness of other qualifications you may need to gain work within this sector and how to access these, such as a CSCS Card, Health and Safety within Construction. Come and join an enthusiastic group of creative crafters who, along with an experienced tutor will strive to unlock their creativity in this hands-on craft course. On this course you will be guided to see your scraps differently and see the craft potential of things you would normally throw away. Whatever paper-craft you are into each session of this course aims to unleash your creativity as you repurpose materials from your stash into pockets, embellishments, handmade cards, and ephemera pieces. For this course you will need minimal supplies and a full list will be available on Canvas but to get started it would be helpful to have some of the following: Assorted paper – plain and patterned and coloured cardstock Scissors Glue sticks, wet glue, adhesive tape. Old books / magazines Buttons, ribbons beads, die cut shapes.
