Course overview
Course description
Maths for Creative Crafts is a 12-hour Entry Level course designed to strengthen everyday numeracy skills through meaningful, creative activities. Many adults lack confidence in applying maths to real-life situations such as measuring accurately, planning projects, calculating costs or managing time. This course embeds essential maths skills within practical craft-based tasks, making learning accessible, relevant and engaging.
Delivered across 6 two-hour sessions, you will develop confidence in measuring and recording materials using appropriate units and simple conversions, carrying out number operations to calculate quantities and total costs, and recognising and using properties of basic 2D shapes when planning designs. You will also estimate costs, compare prices and work within a simple budget, as well as plan and manage time using 12- and 24-hour clock formats.
Sessions are interactive and supportive, using visual aids, templates and familiar materials. Tutors provide clear explanations and structured guidance, supporting gradual skill development and reflection.
By the end of the course, you will have completed creative projects while demonstrating improved confidence in applying maths to everyday tasks and creative activities, with progression opportunities to further Entry Level or Functional Skills Maths.
