Ready to make a difference? Step Into Care is a dynamic five-week online pre-employment programme designed to launch your career in Adult Social Care. Aligned with the new care pathway, this course equips you with essential knowledge, values, and skills to thrive in the sector. You’ll explore key topics including Dementia, Mental Health, Autism, and Learning Disabilities, and complete the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training to support inclusive, person-centred care. You’ll gain knowledge about the expected behaviours in the role; understand the rights of those you care for—and your own—and develop the professional behaviours employers expect. Alongside care-specific learning, you’ll sharpen your CV, job application, and interview skills with expert guidance. On completion, our dedicated Step Into Care work coach will arrange a working interview in a real care setting, giving you the chance to step confidently into your future.

Course description

Live in the Bradford or Leeds area of West Yorkshire, and ready to start a meaningful career? Step Into Care is a fully funded pre-employment programme that prepares you for a future in Adult Social Care. Delivered online by WEA, this engaging course covers key elements of the Adult Social Care Pathway, which all social care workers must undertake, giving you the knowledge and confidence to succeed in the sector.

You’ll build a strong CV, sharpen your interview skills, and receive personalised support from our Step Into Care work coach, who will help match you with a local work placement based on your interests and location. After completing your training, you’ll take part in a voluntary placement designed as a working interview—giving you real-world experience and a chance to impress. If it’s a good fit, your placement could lead directly to a paid role with your employer. Join a supportive learning community, grow your skills, and step into a career that truly matters.
