Our creative writing courses will nourish your inner writer, providing you with a platform to develop your love of poetry, non-fiction or script development. If literature courses are more your kind of thing, then you’re in luck too, as there are a wide range of topics to choose from.  

Literary greats and great periods in history

Our language courses offer you the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in a completely new culture, developing your skills so that you can speak confidently in countries right across the world. German, Italian and Greek are just a few examples of the language courses we have to offer, with many others taking place throughout the year.  

As you’d expect, literary greats such as Agatha Christie and Shakespeare feature regularly. There’s also the option to examine other time periods in English literature too, helping you develop your critical reading and analysis skills - perfect whether you’re a beginner or more experienced in the subject.  

If you prefer history then you’ve got a choice too, from courses on subjects you’d expect such as the first world war, or art history and studying the works of iconic painters such as Salvador Dali.

Ways to Wellbeing: Prose for Wellbeing: reading and writing upbeat narratives for improved wellbeing

Writing prose is a powerful tool for enhancing one's well-being. Regularly writing down your thoughts, feelings, and experiences can help you process emotions, gain insights, and reduce stress. On this taster course you will be reading about life writing and fiction in short and abstract form with happy conclusions to support a positive outlook on life. You will also write your own memoir and fiction pieces to help you process negative beliefs and thought patterns that hold you back and deal with emotions more effectively. By the end of this taster course, you will gain some knowledge of prose and how it can be used to improve your overall well–being.

Film & Media: Second Look Eastern European Cinema

Part 2 of a brief introduction to the rich cinema of Eastern Europe. It gives you an opportunity to explore the rich film industries of Eastern Europe. Their influence on world cinema is bigger than you may have thought despite its many decades under Socialist regimes that imposed certain styles, themes, and heavy censorship. This half-day course will focus on developments since the break-up of the Soviet block at the turn of the 1990s and the emergence of national cinemas in newly formed countries following the dissolution of Yugoslavia.
