Course overview
Course description
If you are interested in dedicating time and space to reading, writing poetry and exploring different forms then this course is for you. It will provide you with a friendly, nurturing and fun place even if you feel a little shy of poetry. To write better poems, it is useful to know the rules in order to be able to break the rules better! Writing in form can take your poetry to interesting places that you wouldn’t have otherwise gone. In the course you will:
· discover poems that are written following particular poetic forms, · observe and discuss the poems, · be guided to write a poem following a particular form. There will be a place to share your experiences in a supported community which will give you the opportunity to practice being seen and heard, which will develop your self confidence and give you the opportunity to explore meaning in your life and poems. Openness is encouraged but you won’t be asked to share more than you are comfortable with. Come practice with us, you are welcome! Please bring pen and paper with you and a glass of water and/or a cup of tea.
