Course overview
Course description
This single session course is aimed at any learners and you do not have to have any previous experience to sign up to the session. Learn the importance of reusing fabric and what you can do with clothing that is too poor in condition to go to the charity shops, while having fun making these great projects.
On the day you will need an old t-shirt, fabric scissors, felt scraps, a couple of brooch backs or safety pins and a needle and thread. In the first part of the session you will learn how to cut up your t-shirt economically into strips and learn about other projects that are great for upcycling old t-shirts into. During the second part of the session we will focus on making the brooches using two different methods to create them, if you have beads or broken jewellery you may want to embellish the brooches.
During the 2 hours you will get to share what you have made with other learners and benefit from having fun in the comfort of your own home. This course will give you an introduction to handling textiles and fabric and give you the step you need to signing up to other sewing and textiles based courses with the WEA.
