Course overview

This course is designed to build on the work developed during the course last term and aims to support those who have either attended the previous course, or have some experience of crafting, and wish to continue to learn more techniques and skills to move forward to develop arts and crafts skills. Where appropriate, you will look at the history behind the development of the different art and craft skills and techniques, together with their popularity and trends. During this friendly course, you will learn how to use a variety of different resources and medias such as card, canvas, wool, fabric, glass and wood.

Course description

This course is designed to allow you to experiment further using a variety of different skills and techniques. You will be encouraged to work with a variety of materials and resources, including recycled products to produce art or craft work that you enjoy making and that makes you feel proud. You will continue to research and learn about the history behind the skills and the techniques that have been developed over the years, within your chosen art and craft. You will build up your individual knowledge of the best resources and tools to use, together with acknowledging the benefits of the use of recycled materials and resources. You will need to be able to state and justify why you have used certain materials, skills, and techniques to make your pieces. You will explore what you enjoy making and how you can continue to develop your individual techniques and skills. You will have the opportunity to suggest what you want to cover during the course and bring ideas to the class. You will be expected to finish at least one piece of your work and state how you made it.
