Course overview
Course description
During this creative and inclusive course, you will be encouraged to explore your collected art-inspired information gathered in your sketchbooks and during art practices. You will have the opportunity to explore larger format artwork to express your unique perspectives and artistic interests. Throughout this course, you will be encouraged to be experimental with mark making and tone. You will make larger work from your new awareness of grayscale and value. We may use larger tools such as builders’ brushes and ink and sticks to bring up the scale of the work. As the course progresses you will learn and use the language of art to evaluate your own artwork and that of others in the group, so that we are more fully able to talk about our artistic inspirations and ideas. There will be a group visit to RAMM museum and Exeter Phoenix Galleries to view contemporary and classical art to broaden our creative outlooks. The Studio Practice class will take place in a light and airy studio that is a welcoming and safe space to all learners, where support and connection with others is central to producing an atmosphere of calm creativity.
