Course overview

Begin to develop your own artwork in this beginner friendly art class, by learning how to create portraits, by using a wide range of materials. It doesn't matter if you have never picked up a drawing pencil. This course is designed to build your confidence and skills in the art of drawing and painting portraits. All you need to bring is your favourite materials to the wonderful Springbourne Library and start expressing your inner artist. The sessions are run y experienced tutors, and they offer and safe and friendly space to be creative and develop your artistic skills and talents.

Course description

Even if you have never picked up a pencil before, this course will give you the space and freedom to explore and develop your inner artist. The WEA thrives themselves of providing a safe and fun learning experience for their learners, it is nothing like school!

Discover your hidden artist by using mediums such as pencils, charcoal, watercolour, acrylic and collage. Share your love of the arts with like minded people and be encouraged and motivated to produce work that reflects who you are.

You can even share what you produce on our virtual learning environment Canvas and explore ways to improve and master your skills and techniques.

Build your skills and colour mixing techniques in this friendly group. Bring your favourite materials and by the end of the course you will be hooked. Once you have completed this course you can progress onto the next course in the series: Still Life. Ask your tutor for details about future courses, and what ones would be best for you.

We don't want anything to stand in your way when it comes to bringing Adult learning within reach so if you need anything to support you to achieve your goals then speak to one of our education experts during your enrolment journey. Most of our courses are government funded but if you don't qualify or need alternative financial help to access them then let us know.
