Course overview
Course description
This course celebrates the beauty and diversity of the seasons through painting and drawing. Participants will explore the unique characteristics of each season—spring, summer, autumn, and winter—and learn how to capture their essence on canvas and paper. Through guided instruction, studio sessions, demonstrations, and outdoor sketching excursions (weather permitting), students will develop skills in observation, composition, colour theory, and brushwork. Emphasis will be placed on expressing the mood, atmosphere, and changing landscapes of each season through artistic interpretation. Whether depicting blooming flowers in spring, sun-drenched landscapes in summer, colourful foliage in autumn, or snowy scenes in winter, learners will gain a deeper appreciation for the natural world and its ever-changing beauty and also be able to cultivate creativity and personal expression through interpretation and representation of seasonal themes. Explore the uses of different mediums such as watercolour, acrylics, oils pastels and pencils. You will also learn to incorporate texture, light and shadow to enhance seasonal compositions.
