Entry Levels 1,2,3: If you have never studied this subject before and you’re not confident in your skills, Entry levels are a good starting point.
Level 1: Covers basic skills and knowledge needed for this subject
Level 2: Building on basic knowledge or experience. Similar to Grade 4/ C at GCSE or O level in England or Standards in Scotland.
Level 3: Learn about the topic in-depth and have a broad range of skills. Independent working Equivalent to an A level in England or Higher in Scotland.
Beginners: A perfect introduction if you have no experience and skills in this subject.
Improvers: The next step if you have basic skills or knowledge but want to progress them further.
Advanced: Build on the solid experience and skills you have in this subject, applying your skills and knowledge in a more complex way.

Course description
Throughout the day, you will be guided through the fascinating process of creating a portrait using chalk pastels. You'll learn fundamental techniques for handling chalk pastels, blending colours, creating textures, and capturing the essence of your subject. Our experienced instructor will provide step-by-step demonstrations, offering personalized guidance and feedback to help you bring your portrait to life. You can bring your own art supplies or use the ones on offer by the instructor.
In addition to hands-on instruction, the course will also include discussions on colour theory, pastel types, and preservation techniques to ensure the longevity of your artwork. You will have the opportunity to experiment with different surfaces and tools, allowing for a comprehensive exploration of chalk pastel techniques.
By the end of the day, you'll have gained valuable insights into the world of chalk pastels and completed your very own portrait masterpiece to take home. After you have attended you are welcome to explore the many other wonderful art courses we offer either face to face at the library or online.
