Get Ready for Level 2 functional skills English isn’t like learning English at school. This is an English course for adults created by adults. Develop practical English skills by learning language in context. Gain confidence writing a range of texts and boost your reading skills. This online, adult English course teaches you skills to support you in learning and work situations and is designed to prepare you to progress onto our accredited Level 2 Functional Skills English course. English functional skills courses are accepted as a GCSE equivalent for many jobs and courses. At level 2, it can help you do an apprenticeship, higher education course, or go to University. This course is funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority.

This course will support you to further develop your confidence to talk to others, or complete forms, speak with your child's schools, organisations, hospital staff, doctors or discuss other issues and where and how to gain support. This course aims to increase your confidence in using English in everyday situations for work and home building confidence and motivation. Develop English skills to support your child’s schoolwork, plan activities during half term and develop networking skills to find out how and where to access family days and activities. Develop your digital skills by using the WEA’ s online learning platform canvas and participant in online discussions and activities. This course is funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority.

This course is for London learners only. It is a Hybrid course with face to face sessions taking place at Woodpecker Hall Academy (London) North Star Community Trust Cuckoo Hall Lane London N9 8DR. Take your maths skills to the next level to help you with work or study opportunities. Adult maths teaches you practical numeracy skills for everyday life. This entry 3 functional skills maths course offers a practical way to learn maths as an adult. Functional skills maths courses aren’t like studying maths at school. You’ll learn maths in context. Develop maths skills to face real-life situations such as organising your personal budget or applying discounts when shopping. This entry 3 functional maths course is right for you if you want to enhance your maths skills to work or study. It can help you learn essential maths skills employers look for. The course consists of 45hrs of in venue classes and 10hrs of online learner directed self study with tutor guidance and support. Functional Skills qualifications are free if you don't already have a GCSE in English or Maths at grades A*-C, or 4-9. We'll check your level and any previous qualifications before you start. This ensures you are on the correct course.

In this course you will learn about the responsibilities and expectations required of school staff as well as understand employment options available. This will enable you to make informed choices about the work experience and longer term schools based employment options available to you. You will also learn about the behaviour and responsibilities expected of school staff. Schools benefit from a variety of different staff that support the learning and welfare of pupils. In addition to the main teacher in each classroom, there are many other jobs inside and outside of lessons that contribute to how a school runs and how pupils learn. These jobs are typically called support roles, and make up half of the workforce in schools.
