Textiles and Fashion: Upcycling

Come and join a new course aimed at beginner sewers. No previous experience of the sewing machine is necessary. We will start with getting used to the machine and making a simple pin cushion. This will also make us think about what fabric we can recycle and use up all the little scraps of fabric you may have from previous projects. Using recycled materials not only helps in reducing waste but also sparks creativity by encouraging you to think outside the box.

History: Oh No, not another election!' - A history of struggle for votes for all

But at the beginning of the 19th century only a tiny majority of men had the right to vote. Our liberties as they stand were not handed down benevolently by the government, but were hard won by individuals and groups of people like the Chartists, Individual and group protesters, Trade Unionists and Suffragists/Suffragettes. What was the impact of these protests and the reaction of the authorities? Join us to find out more
