This course is designed for students with a basic level of English who are aiming to improve their reading skills and achieve a good score in the IELTS Reading module. Through a variety of engaging activities and targeted exercises, you will develop essential strategies for tackling different reading text types found in the IELTS test.

Working in partnership with Norwich Job Centre and Seetec Pluss, the WEA offers the Introduction to Customer Service Course to equip participants with essential customer service skills for employment. Learners will interact with Aviva, participate in mock interviews, and have the opportunity for a real interview with Aviva. The course provides a comprehensive overview of customer service, helps identify transferable skills, and prepares participants for successful job interviews. There will be a Meet and Greet session on 4th September from 9.30am - 11.30am. This is an opportunity to meet your tutor and each other.

Join us at Community Roots in Porthtowan, Cornwall for this accredited course in Permaculture Design. Delivered by our experienced Permaculture tutor this course will introduce to the key concepts of Permaculture design whilst undertaking practical design tasks with our partner Community Roots who run a community supported agriculture project on the scenic North cliffs in Cornwall. This bespoke course has been created with Community Roots to meet the needs of people who are wanting to introduce permaculture principles either at home , community or commercial setting.

This course will explore the following texts: Heart of Darkness - Joseph Conrad; Short Stories by Kipling; The Siege of Krishnapur - JG Farrell; The Jewel in the Crown - Paul Scott, and The English Patient - Michael Ondaatje. The course will track the decline of Empire and the concomitant social and political uncertainty, the relationship between the colonial and the colonised Other, and develop themes relating to identity and the subjective nature of historical revision. There will be ample scope for discussion of at times difficult and controversial debates, and we will focus on the continuing relationship that exists between contemporary writers and later writers vis-a-vis issues of guilt and responsibility.

This course in art appreciation provides close attentions to particular works of art from two important artists, Leonardo da Vinci and Albrecht Dürer, working in Europe in the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries. The focus will be upon specific paintings, drawings and prints in relation to their concept of beauty. The course will present a range of work by both artists and each week will select one work for a Close View and detailed attention. Particular attentions will be given to Dürer’s painting in Venice and to his woodcuts and engravings; to Leonardo’s drawings and to his work in Milan.

Course Outline Come and join our enthusiastic tutor and a group of likeminded crafters as we immerse ourselves in the rewarding world of festive card making. If you’ve made Christmas cards previously you will know that it is never too early to start! Craft in general is known to have a positive effect on the mental health of those that do it, and card-making is fun, productive and very rewarding: you create lovely, personalised cards to delight the special people in your life. We will cover all aspects of card making from cutting the bases to adding the final elements of bling. We will try various fun folds, different techniques and a range of materials to create our stunning cards. This course is suitable for those with some experience of card making and a well-stocked craft room. Come and join us and build on your existing craft skills and add some new ones to your crafting library!

This course is designed for you to develop your creative side and use your previous clay hand-building techniques to progress to an intermediate level, plus a chance explore the different decorative styles working with Clay. By the end of the course you should have lots of different pottery pieces and different pottery skills. You will be in a group with others and led by a talented Arts and Crafts tutor. Your work will be taken away and fired in a kiln by the tutor and it will be yours to keep!
