This adult English course helps you develop your language skills through real-life situations. Functional Skills level 1 is a government-funded accredited English course for adults. Functional Skills qualifications are free if you don't already have a GCSE in English or Maths at grades A*-C, or 4-9. We'll check your level and any previous qualifications before you start. You will get lots of opportuntities to practice your new English skills in groups and individually, you will also be given homework tasks so you can continue to practice at home.. Develop your basic English skills with this non-accredited course. This English course is for speakers of other languages and is a face-to-face class in a local centre. This ESOL course helps people who want to improve their basic English. It will help you gain confidence to communicate in everyday situations and be part of your community. What we will cover: - Asking for and giving basic personal details/information, asking for help, talking about likes, dislikes and feelings, and following instructions. This course is ran in partnership with CBO (Confederation of Bangladeshi Organisation). This course is funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority.

The Reaching Out Programme classes are open to people living in the community that can have their needs met by the class. This is a class for people with a learning disability. It provides for those who enjoy art, but cannot normally gain access to art classes, with the opportunity to complete a number of exciting and accessible projects. The projects include drawing, colouring-in, painting animals and faces and making posters – all in a relaxed, friendly and supportive environment.

Reading short texts is an excellent introduction to the works of some of the greatest writers of the western canon. Each week we focus on a short classic novel, reading and discussing key passages. The selected novels are in chronological order, from the 18th century to modern times. We begin with Candide and end with The Ballad of the Sad Café. We’ll be able to share and debate interpretations, sharpen our critical and appreciative faculties, understand what fiction can tell us about the society and culture that produced it, and, hopefully, be inspired to read other works by the writers featured on the course.
