Course overview
Course description
In this short course (4 weeks), we will discuss a series of topics connecting current affairs and today’s art. This course will be completely taught in French by a native French speaker. The course aims to enrich your knowledge of contemporary art, develop your French vocabulary, and boost your confidence when speaking French. You will do so while discussing current affairs and “hot” topics.
Each week we will focus on a specific theme, current in our society:
Week 1: Environment and Climate Change
Week 2: Money and the Art World (the art market, and wealthy patrons)
Week 3: Gender issues in Art and among Artists
Week 4: Looting and Restitution in the Art World
Your teacher will aim to make resources available to you on Canvas one week before the zoom meeting so that you can prepare each session.
Language skills: This is not a language course. To follow this course, it is desirable to have a good level in French, especially in understanding spoken French. Developing skills in speaking French are OK. If and when necessary, English can be used a back-up. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
