Course overview
Course description
This course really will take Beginners beyond the basic language and understanding that they already have and widen their ability to deploy French in a range of settings and offering more complex discussion. We will start from solid revision of foundation skills of greetings, basic ordering and way finding and move forward to deal with unhelpful waiters, sharing further personal information about homes, interests and professions.
Regular, short but relevant, weekly homework tasks will prepare students for each forthcoming lesson and the online teaching methods will include some presentation, listening to native speakers, speaking practice and small group work. We will address all 4 language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing with a primary emphasis on oral competence.
Whilst the course will be supported by a text book costing about £15.00 (details to be announced), many materials and video recordings collected by the tutor in French-speaking countries will be used to enhance and illustrate the course. Progress will be regularly monitored by the tutor and also all students will be encouraged to monitor their own progress and devise strategies to improve.
