Step into the iconic era of Classic Hollywood, spanning from the 1930s to the 1950s, characterised by the studio system and legendary stars. Explore the established cinematic conventions, glamour, and entertainment that defined this golden age of filmmaking
Throughout this course, you'll have the opportunity to delve into often overlooked gems of this era. Discover why some of these films may have been slightly forgotten compared to others. Analyse the motivations and factors that governed their production, considering both the appeal they had to audiences then and how they are interpreted today.
Films Covered: Shanghai Express (1932), Now, Voyager (1943), Lifeboat (1944), Destry Rides Again (1939), The Bishop’s Wife (1947).
