Course description

This ""Filmability"" course is an innovative program designed to engage students and long-term unemployed individuals through the creation of a short film celebrating Ipswich Town Football Club's (ITFC) community impact. This unique project aims to foster group collaboration, enhance planning and literacy skills, and develop digital proficiency, recognizing the value of creative work as a catalyst for a diverse skill set.

Traditional classroom methods often fail to engage some students, leading to disengagement and a sense of inevitable failure. ""Filmability"" addresses these challenges by offering a fun, hands-on activity that promotes learning through film production. Participants will work together to produce a documentary film, gaining practical skills such as resilience, organisation, teamwork, research, writing, time management, communication, and technical proficiency.

Over ten days, the course guides participants through the stages of filmmaking: identifying the topic, scriptwriting, mastering camera operations, filming, and editing. This process not only makes learning enjoyable but also equips participants with valuable workplace skills without the pressure of a formal educational setting. By the end of the course, participants will have created a compelling film highlighting ITFC's impact on its community.
