This short course will look at archaeological evidence to provide an introduction to the impact of the Roman Empire in the east of Egypt.
This course is funded by the Education Skills and Funding Agency.
Course description
Why was the Roman Empire interested in the east of Egypt? Over two sessions we will consider the impact of the Empire in the region, looking at activities, exploitation and networks. We will primarily look at the archaeological evidence but also consider other sources to see what was gained and the impact on the rest of the Empire.
