Presented by Chris Foster, a Camden Tour Guide.
A light-hearted illustrated presentation, based on a virtual guided walk along the length of The New River - a 30 mile canal from Hertford to London, created over 400 years ago to supply The City with fresh drinking water.
Chris will entertain you in his own way about why he finds the idea of digging this ancient waterway so fascinating and why so many people have no idea what it is, what it does, and how it saved the lives of so many Londoners who had been drinking polluted water straight from The River Thames.
Chris will tell you how it was constructed all those years ago, and how one man started off the project using his own money, but then somebody else turned up later to take ownership and receive all the glory. Times never change!
