Course description
This is a dynamic course designed to immerse students in the captivating world of textile design and construction.
From exploring historical and contemporary motifs to mastering technical skills such as cutting, stitching, and finishing, participants will acquire the tools and knowledge necessary to bring their textile designs to life. During the course, students will apply their pattern design skills to garment construction, learning how to translate their patterns into wearable pieces. The course also explores the intersection of traditional craftsmanship with modern digital tools and sustainable practices, empowering participants to create ethically and responsibly.
Led by experienced instructors with a passion for textile arts, "Exploring Textile Design and Construction" provides a supportive and collaborative learning environment where participants can exchange ideas, receive personalized feedback, and expand their creative horizons. This course is free to everyone due to the partnership between the WEA and Coalfields Regeneration Trust.
