Craft: Introduction to Pottery

Our beginners pottery taster session is designed to introduce you to the wonderful world of pottery in a fun and engaging way. This session will provide you with a glimpse into the art of pottery, allowing you to explore the basic techniques and tools involved. Under the guidance of an experienced tutor, you will learn how to shape clay, create simple forms, and add unique textures. We will be trying the technique of coiling to make a bowl which you can then decorate. You can explore ways of creating your own individual surface pattern and apply this to your work. We will be discovering how to model the clay to make an animal shape of your choice and add detail and decoration using a range of tools.Everything you need to join in will be provided, We will be using air-drying clay so you can take your pieces home at the end of the session.Through hands-on practice, you will experience the therapeutic benefits of working with clay while discovering your own creativity. This taster session is perfect for those who are curious about pottery and want to get a taste of this rewarding and meditative craft.
