Intermediate Watercolours: Expressive and Creative Effects Part 1

This 10-week course is aimed at intermediate level students and will introduce you to different methods for creating textures and effects when painting in watercolour. In it aims to help you to explore methods for working spontaneously and expressively. Sessions will contain ideas for exploring self-expression and encourage you to try out new ways of approaching your own paintings when using different textures and effects. There will be the opportunity to see and take inspiration from a variety of sources including books, handouts, photographs, personal sketchbooks and artists as well as ideas that emerge during the sessions. Weekly vocal discussions will take place at the start of each of the sessions where you will have the chance to be involved in the sharing of ideas and constructive feedback about your artworks with the tutor and other students on the course. Teaching will include the use of a variety of creative prompts, demonstrations, downloadable handouts and other relevant online resources on Canvas and the Internet. Discussion groups on Canvas will also be made available for you to upload images of your artworks to and receive written encouragement and comments from the tutor and other students on the course.
