Course overview
Course description
During this inspiring and inclusive course you will be using the sketchbook to gather inspiration and information. You will be able to try out a selection of different experimental techniques and materials. You will have the opportunity to visit galleries and exhibitions and look at the art of other artists and, of course, our very own 'still life' to get the creative juices going! During the first term you will focus on 'mark-making' and ' seeing tone' and using light and dark values to create monochrome artwork. We will begin to generate a glossary of terms to be used throughout the course that can be used to start evaluating our own work using the language of art. This will help you to describe your artwork and to select work for the end of year exhibition. The Sketchbook class will take place in a light and airy studio that is a welcoming and safe space to all learners, where support and connection with others is central to producing an atmosphere of calm creativity.
