Course overview
Course description
The main aim for this Advanced Mosaic course is for you to undertake a more complex mosaic using skills learnt from previous experiences - be that with the method, the design, or the intricacy. You will be encouraged to undertake your own research, plan, design and estimate the cost of your project in advance, as you would if you were commissioned by a potential customer.
In addition to this main task, other projects will be suggested such as micro mosaics, as well as a proposal to try a method, technique, or material that you have not yet undertaken. You will be challenged to take your skills to the next level and to give constructive feedback to others on their own projects.
All equipment is provided, or you can bring your own. Most students will need to purchase some materials from the tutor at cost price; depending on the project this might include china, glass, bases, adhesive and grout, etc. Aprons are provided or you can bring your own. On completion of this course, you can progress to further craft courses, focusing on specific advanced techniques or other courses where you can develop your digital or maths skills.
