When his partner was diagnosed with breast cancer, Tony found it difficult to manage feelings of stress. It was through the WEA that he found his love of yoga and now he wouldn’t be without it.
“Doing yoga has had a massive impact on both my physical and mental wellbeing."
After being recommended the ancient Indian practice to manage his stress levels, the 71-year-old from Leicester started attending WEA yoga classes at his local centre around six years ago.
Tony has been attending classes regularly in person and continued online during Covid. He also attended a six-week WEA mindfulness course just before the pandemic.
"When my partner had breast cancer the classes really helped me – it was the only time in the week I really felt relaxed. Thankfully she is all clear now and I’m so thankful to my classes and teacher for helping me through that tough time.
I’m so grateful for these classes. People had talked about the benefits of yoga to me over the years but, to be honest, I didn’t really understand what all the fuss was about. Now I wouldn’t be without my WEA yoga class.”
