This basic course will introduce learners to the world at work and the language needed to enter it. The course has been developed in partnership with Wolverhampton City Council which refers learners to this and other programmes hosted at the Old School, which is a community centre run by Blakenhall Action Community Forum. This course is particularly suitable for students are unemployed and have been referred by Job Centres to improve their spoken and written English and thereby get closer to getting a job.

The ESOL Living and working in UK course is designed for beginners who have little or no prior knowledge of the English language. In a face-to-face, comfortable and very positive environment you will have an opportunity to improve your skill and gain confidence. This course is focused on helping students develop fundamental speaking and listening skills in English. By the end of the course, students should be able to hold simple conversations and understand basic English conversations. Indulge in the topics like : “All about me”, “Talking about your neighbourhood”, “How do you spend your weekends?” and many more.

Develop your speaking skills with this non-accredited course. This English course is for speakers of other languages and is a face-to-face class in a local centre. This ESOL Speaking & Listening course is for people who want to to learn English. It will help you start to do things more independently and communicate with other people in your community. You will be able to: - Recognise and state the alphabet letter names & the phonetic sounds; recognise and state numbers 1-20; greet, make simple small talk and say goodbye; respond to requests for personal and factual information; and start to learn how to ask basic questions.

On this course we will explore: ● How the ghosts of metre and rhyme may exist in free verse, and how to achieve this ● How rhythm is generated within free verse through sonic devices. ● How rhythms of conversational speech are related to the rhythm of free verse, and how this produces a form of elevated speech. ● Rhyme and Rhythm in traditional poetry. The course will explore one technique each week and concentrate on workshopping this via the development of a subject during each session. These sessions will be built from structured inspiration tasks, discussion and experimentation with ideas and languages.
