Crafting is known to relax those who participate in it and the added bonus with decoupage is you can make some lovely handmade gifts for friends and family for pennies, using items you can find around the house or in charity shops This course is aimed at beginners and more experienced crafters, so anyone who has an interest in craft is more than welcome. Take the pressure out of the festive season with a range of relaxing and rewarding art and craft activities. This is a welcoming and informal class where you will have the opportunity to try different art and craft techniques. We will explore the concept of mindfulness and take part in activities which aim to create a sense of peace and wellbeing. You can take part in group guided activities as well as being encouraged to come up with your own art ideas. Come write that story that you’ve been meaning to write! We get inspired into our own story by reading short extracts of published memoir and essays. The tutor teaches an element of craft each week to try out in our writing. We will have writing exercises in class which we can share to receive gentle feedback from peers and the tutor. You will leave feeling satisfied you put pen to paper. And made friends too!

We will use a variety of fun folds, including pop-up and diorama, to create our stunning showstopper cards. This workshop has been set up to create a festive and beautiful Christmas wreath using a variety of materials and techniques. You will learn how to design, assemble, and decorate a wreath, gaining both skills and a finished product to take home. You will leave the workshop with a handcrafted Christmas wreath and the knowledge to create more in the future. The workshop aims to foster creativity, provide a fun and festive activity, and enhance your holiday decor skills. No experience is needed as the tutor will offer full support and guidance to help you make your Christmas Wreath.

Learn to create ecological friendly Christmas tags, decorations and boxes using the oriental craft of origami.

Have you ever seen weaving and wondered how to get started and wanted to try your hand at it? On this course you will discover that it is possible to make a loom from a variety of materials, even from something as simple as a piece of card, a branch, etc. You will also explore how to use more than just wool to weave with and how to prepare alternative materials for weaving. You will gain knowledge about how threads are interlaced to create a woven fabric and what the different threads are called and how to use them to create patterns and texture in piece of woven textile art. You will also discover how weaving can be beneficial to your health, helping you to “be in the moment” and create a calming environment.

This course introduces students to the foundational skills of calligraphy and hand lettering. Starting with the history and evolution of both art forms, students will learn about essential tools and materials. They will practice basic strokes, letter formations, and techniques for both lowercase and uppercase alphabets. By the end of this term, students will be able to create simple projects like greeting cards or quote art, utilising basic layouts and compositions. The focus is on developing a strong understanding of the basics and building confidence and creating a calligraphic sketchbook.
