This course is 30 hours of follow-on skills for the Beginner Sewing into Business course. On this course you will learn how to carry out essential alterations. You will learn, inserting zips into cushions and outdoor furnishings, adjusting waistbands with elastic for a custom fit, gain understanding of how to alter school uniforms, including sewing badges and hemming pants. You will also be guided in researching how to monetize your sewing skills, gaining insights into market demands and business strategies. This course provides a blend of practical sewing techniques and entrepreneurial knowledge, equipping you to confidently tackle common mending tasks and explore business opportunities.

Do you want to start learning English? Come and join First Steps In ESOL. You can meet other people and improve your English skills. Classes are held in a friendly and supportive venue. This course is for beginners. After completing it, you could move onto an Entry 1 course such as Get Ready for ESOL Entry 1. We’ll cover Use numbers 1 to 50 in English Match lower- and upper-case letters Ask and answer questions in English Spell out your name, saying the letters correctly Match common everyday signs to their meanings in English Improve your confidence to learning.

The WEA, in partnership with DWP and Seetec Pluss, offers the Introduction to Customer Service Course to equip participants with essential customer service skills for employment. Learners will interact with Aviva Insurance team, participate in mock interviews, and have the opportunity for a real interview with Aviva. The course provides a comprehensive overview of customer service, helps identify transferable skills, and prepares participants for successful job interviews.

Claude Monet once wrote “ It is extraordinary to see the sea: what a spectacle!” The Seashore offers rich material for both artists and photographers and has inspired some insightful and amusing creations. During this workshop we will explore some different approaches used by photographers, when capturing the essence of the great British seaside. We will look at the social documentary photographers David Hurn and Martin Parr, who play with colour and humour when depicting British seaside culture. Alternatively, we will consider the work of Fay Godwin, who works more intimately with the landscape itself, gathering lost objects from the beach to scan in order to produce exquisite close ups.

This short course will support you to look at setting goals that are realistic and achievable. This short course will look at what you are hoping to achieve moving forward such as planning to lose weight, starting new training opportunities or something that you have always wanted to do, but not had the courage or knowledge to know how and where to start. /during this short course we will look at setting short, medium and long term goals and discover how to plan to achieve these in a realistic time to ensure they are achievable.

Learn to draw a realistic portrait of the human face from a photograph. This full day workshop is designed for complete beginners but also caters for those with some drawing experience who wish to develop their skills further. You will draw from a photograph and learn how to build a likeness from broad shapes through to more refined features using a chalk and charcoal. This workshop is an excellent first step before you begin to draw from a live model. You will be guided and supported throughout the day and the techniques that you learn during the workshop will equip you to create your own portrait drawings at home.
