This course provides an introduction to the work of key artists who rejected the concerns of 19thcentury Impressionism and evolved away from it in new and radically independent directions. Now grouped together as Post Impressionism, we will consider how these groundbreaking artists related to developments in philosophy, psychology and science at the time to inspire their artwork. We will examine the artistic concerns and work of Cezanne – and discuss why he was thought to be the father of modern art, Gaugin. Seurat and Van Gogh, famous for his use of bright emotive colours, amongst other artists. We will also examine as to how their artistic journey and style contributed to paving the way for the modern art movements that followed.

The CV writing workshop will empower Department for Work and Pensions claimants to create a new CV or update an existing CV with the help of an experienced tutor. You will learn the basic concepts and importance of an effective CV, ensuring that it includes personal details, information on education, work experience, key skills and references. Where appropriate you will receive support to tailor CVs to specific job roles with a view to improve prospects for being invited for an interview. The Level 2 Certificate in Preparing for the Community Interpreting Role enables learners who are speakers of other languages to develop the language and skills necessary to go on and train as Community Interpreters at Level 3 and Level 4.
