This is an ESOL course for adults. You will develop basic English language skills. Before you can enrol on this course, you will need to do a skills check. This is for us to make sure you get on the right course for your level. This course is for people working at Pre-entry level ESOL.

The course will examine the background to one of the defining events of the C20th. How and why did the German people come to perpetrate arguably the largest crime of a troubled century? Was this the actions of a relatively small number of antisemitic zealots or did the responsibility go much wider within German society? How far were the populations in the countries where the Holocaust took place active participants in mass murder. As we pause to remember on each Holocaust memorial day, to what extent is our perception and remembrance partial and distorted? These are some of the questions this course will address. The subject matter is inevitably difficult but it remains important to understand how these events came to pass. This course is funded by Greater London Combined Authority.

Our Multiply: Strategies for Maths L1 Exams course is designed to help learners build the skills and confidence needed to succeed in the Level 1 Maths exam. This course focuses on effective exam strategies, covering key topics such as arithmetic, data handling, and problem-solving. Learners will work through a range of practice exercises and exam-style questions, building their understanding and improving their exam technique. By the end of the course, learners will have a clear strategy for approaching the exam and the confidence to tackle a variety of questions successfully.

An introduction in how to use Canvas for those students who have not used a digital learning platform before. Canvas is a versatile education tool in that it can be used in the classroom to learn digital skills.

Would you like to learn new skills or change jobs? It can be hard to get back into learning after a long break. This confidence training will prepare you to feel comfortable stepping back into the classroom. This short course can help you bridge the gaps in your confidence and overcome the obstacles standing in your way to get back into learning. The objective of this course is to get you into a positive mindset to achieve your goals. You will practise a variety of confidence-building exercises to help that mindset shift come from within.

This course examines the century that shaped England, bookended by arguably England’s worst King, John, and one of its greatest, Edward I. The century began with England's integral of a vast continental empire that stretched from the Scottish borders to the foothills of the Pyrenees. The 13th century began for England with the reign of King John, who lost his continental empire and almost lost his throne to a baronial revolt against his rule and an invasion of England by the French. One hundred and thirty years later, John’s great-grandson did lose his Kingdom to an invasion led by his wife, Isabella, to overthrow him and replace him on the throne. The intervening years were no less dramatic: years of baronial unrest, Magna Carta, and the growing influence of foreigners around King Henry III culminating in the rebellion of Simon de Montfort and the Baron's War against the King in the 1260s. The England that we know, its governance and institutions were shaped during these 130 years of the calamitous thirteenth century.

This course will introduce the learner to accessible and generative journaling exercises to explore their writer’s mindset and process and help them plan and think more deeply through expressive writing about their work in progress. Journaling can help with developing a positive mindset: to keep motivated after rejection; It can also help develop confidence as you free-write and keep up momentum rather than ponder and choose the right word. Journaling can also be used for planning and going deeper into your thoughts and ideas about your current piece of writing.

West Sussex Multiply Course; Welcome to the 'Language for Numeracy' course! This course is designed to help you understand and use English in mathematical contexts. You will learn to read and write numbers, understand math terms, and solve basic problems. You will learn how to use measurements, handle money, and tell the time. The course aims to improve your English skills through practical numeracy tasks in a supportive learning environment. Your tutor will encourage the use of language around numeracy and you will work with incredible students from all around the world that can compare language used for numeracy from their countries. This course is funded by West Sussex Multiply.
