After completing it, you could move onto getting ready for an Entry 1 course such as Get Ready for ESOL Entry 1. The course is running at the Faith Centre in Burnley. This is a friendly centre where there are other ESOL classes running. The centre is on the bus links from the town centre.

Join our ESOL Conversation Café at Clare House, designed to enhance your English language skills in a friendly and supportive environment. This weekly session provides an excellent opportunity to practice speaking, improve your vocabulary, and build confidence in conversational English. The term will focus on the consolidation of the various Principalities of Outremer in the aftermath of the first crusade. A particularly closer examination will be made of how such embattled regions managed to survive their first precarious years, despite pressure from neighbouring Muslim states. We will also pay close attention to the development and growth of the various governments in those regions, and their ongoing relationships with neighbouring states both Muslim and Christian. Finally, we will consider the circumstances of the Second Crusade and why it failed in its primary objectives, as well as the consequences of its failure.

This is a Basic BSL course that will cover a range of different topics to help to build the learners sign vocabulary, and perhaps evoke a desire to learn more sign, to enable more communication, with the deaf community!

Are you fascinated by art and how it developed, and would like to know more? Humans have always expressed their spirituality through art, from the earliest cave drawings to contemporary installations in cathedrals. This course concentrates on how European art has depicted the Christian faith, but also looks at the art of Islam and the Indian art of Buddhism and Hinduism. Beginning with cave art around the world, we look at some of the earliest artistic expressions of humanity’s search for the beyond. Buddhist and Hindu art from the centuries before Christ is discussed, as is art from the earliest roots of Islam from the seventh century onwards.
