Course overview

This is a pre-entry/ entry level course which supports low level ESOL learners to build their ESOL skills in relation to accessing local services here in the UK. Learners will learn through the main ESOL skills speaking, listening, reading and writing in tailored to the topic of ‘local services’. The course will enable learners to build their confidence towards exploring the local community and local services in the UK. The course is unaccredited and is for nine weeks. It will be running face to face by a qualified and experienced tutor.

Course description

Join us to improve your English skills and gain the confidence to explore and access local services in your community!

The course will be ran face to face at a friendly venue in the centre of Chorley. The tutor is experienced and qualified. The course will run for 3 hours a session and run for nine weeks.

At the end of the course you will have met the following learning objectives;

1 Be able to understand and use key vocabulary in relation to local services.

2 Be able to understand simple requests and statements in relation to local services.

3 Be able to speak clearly in simple exchanges in relation to local services..

4 Be able to listen and identify information in relation to local services..

5 Be able to write basic information about local services.

The course will enable you to continue and progress in your studies and give you the confidence to engage more in local services activities to enhance your own integration into the local community and move towards gaining employment and stability here in the UK.

The course will also give learners the opportunity to meet other ESOL learners in their own community and the opportunity for them to engage in a positive manner in a safe environment under the supervision of the tutor.
