Entry Levels 1,2,3: If you have never studied this subject before and you’re not confident in your skills, Entry levels are a good starting point.
Level 1: Covers basic skills and knowledge needed for this subject
Level 2: Building on basic knowledge or experience. Similar to Grade 4/ C at GCSE or O level in England or Standards in Scotland.
Level 3: Learn about the topic in-depth and have a broad range of skills. Independent working Equivalent to an A level in England or Higher in Scotland.
Beginners: A perfect introduction if you have no experience and skills in this subject.
Improvers: The next step if you have basic skills or knowledge but want to progress them further.
Advanced: Build on the solid experience and skills you have in this subject, applying your skills and knowledge in a more complex way.
Course overview
Course description
This stimulating and rewarding BSL course is designed to enable you to communicate with other BSL users within three everyday situations. Education, Work and Socialising. You will extend your terminology and vocabulary to prepare you to confidently communicate using BSL. The 3 sessions are:
Session 1: BSL for Education
This session is suitable for anyone who works in ‘education’ and values inclusion and access for all. You will develop, extend and advance your education-based BSL terminology and vocabulary for everyday use in your institution/establishment.
Session 2: BSL for Work
This session is designed to further enhance your ability to communicate through BSL in your workplace: allowing for opportunities to extend your office/work related terminology and vocabulary. This will enable you to increase the confidence in your communication skills with other BSL users creating a more equal and accessible workplace.
Session 3: BSL for Socialising
This session will cover such topics as eating & drinking, shopping and general conversation within an informal setting. (Confidently arrange to meet a friend and order food & drink) You will build on your base knowledge of BSL to develop your communication skills: nurturing an inclusive and accessible community and society.
