Course overview

Would you like to help children gain confidence in their reading as well as English and maths? Then this course is for you. No matter what role you are interested in, this course can teach you skills that will help you gain employment in a school or college. It will provide you with the basic skills and knowledge necessary to work in an administration, technical, or support role in a learning environment. Studying support work in schools at level 2 can be a first step towards working with children in teaching positions.

Course description

On this course you will:

Understand child development and learn how to support children's well-being.

Gain insight into the operation of a school or college.

Understand essential safeguarding practices for working with children.

Become familiar with diversity, equality, and inclusion considerations in the school environment.

Your tutor will set various tasks to assess your learning. These may include producing leaflets, charts or diagrams, or information boards.

This award usually takes around 90 hours to complete. After completing the course, you can progress to the Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning.

The aim of this qualification is to prepare you for a variety of job roles that can be done in schools and colleges. Job roles could include learning assistant, technical support worker, classroom volunteer, administrative worker, or any other on-site roles.

On this course you will learn about schools and colleges as organisations, children and young people’s development, communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults, children and young people’s Health and Safety and Safeguarding.

Most of our courses are government funded but if you don't qualify or need alternative financial help to access them then let us know.
