This course is designed to help you provide evidence of the knowledge and understanding required to support and protect children and young people’s safeguarding needs in a learning environment. This course is perfect for people looking to work in the education sector, to give you some extra knowledge that you can apply. This course will teach you about safeguarding within a learning environment including why safeguarding is so important, signs that you might look out for and how to report a safeguarding concern to the relevant person. You will also learn about the relevant legislation involved. This course is funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority.

Course description

This short course is an Introduction to safeguarding in a learning environment for Children and Young people in Schools and Colleges.

The course examines policies, procedures and legislation relating to safeguarding children and young people in a learning environment.

This course will support learners on their level 2 or level 3 award in supporting teaching and learning, the level 3 award in education and training or any other qualifications which lead to the education sector.

This course is perfect for people looking to work in the education sector, to give you some extra knowledge that you can apply.

This course will teach you about safeguarding within a learning environment including why safeguarding is so important, signs that you might look out for and how to report a safeguarding concern to the relevant person. You will also learn about the relevant legislation involved. By the end of this course you will be able to identify and follow the correct procedure for reporting safeguarding concerns and you will be able to identify at least 4 different types of abuse that you might come across whilst working in the education sector. You will consider different ways of addressing safeguarding concerns including the actions you might take and why.
