Course overview

Join me for a seated yoga session, designed to stretch every muscle in the body. We will includce a yoga strap and bring some tin cans to add a weight bearing aspect to your session. During the meditation section of this class your tutor will focus on each of the Yamas. Yamas: the moral, ethical and societal guidelines for those who love yoga. These guidelines are all expressed in the emphatic descriptions of how we understand and relate to the world around us when we are truly immersed in seated yoga. There are five Yamas in total in Patanjali's Sutras: • Ahimsa (non-harming or non-violence in thought, word and deed) • Satya (truthfulness) • Asteya (non-stealing) • Brahmacharya (the 'right use of energy', we will include some self massage and reflexology) • Aparigraha (non-greed or non-hoarding, we will include some focus around space clearing your homes linked with Feng Shui)

Course description

Seated yoga is a lovely way to focus the mind and body and become more aware of how we can help ourselves. During this course we will work throughout the entire body on a weekly basis, aiming to stretch out areas of pain and disease. Now on to the Yamas, these are primarily concerned with the wonderful world around us, how it impacts us and how we interact with it. On this course, during the mediation and practice we will consider each aspect of the yamas and how a deeper understanding of this will impact us both on and off the yoga chair.

This course is designed to integrate the 5 yamas into a practical yoga session designed for all levels and abilities. Whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned yoga student looking to refresh your knowledge of the body and the limbs of yoga, this short course to make the most immersing yourself in the world of yoga.

This class is excellent for those who find it impossible to attend face to face classes and are looking to spend time discussing the limbs of yoga, participating in some lovely yoga asana, breathing techniques and meditation.

So, what should you expect? Each week we will delve into various elements of yoga, looking at both the history the theories and of course the yamas. You will also participate in the practical part of this subject and put into practice the theory of yoga. We will also include by a mediation and breathing techniques.
