Entry Levels 1,2,3: If you have never studied this subject before and you’re not confident in your skills, Entry levels are a good starting point.
Level 1: Covers basic skills and knowledge needed for this subject
Level 2: Building on basic knowledge or experience. Similar to Grade 4/ C at GCSE or O level in England or Standards in Scotland.
Level 3: Learn about the topic in-depth and have a broad range of skills. Independent working Equivalent to an A level in England or Higher in Scotland.
Beginners: A perfect introduction if you have no experience and skills in this subject.
Improvers: The next step if you have basic skills or knowledge but want to progress them further.
Advanced: Build on the solid experience and skills you have in this subject, applying your skills and knowledge in a more complex way.

Course description
Consider the causes of stress in modern lifestyles. Learn to recognise the symptoms and practise techniques to alleviate it. Gain knowledge to provide support to individuals affected by stress. Explore ways to prevent stress in the future.
During this course the following subjects will be covered:
What is stress/worry/anxiety and using grounding techniques
Goals, prioritising, boundaries and saying no
Thinking about thinking (negative thinking and unhelpful thinking)
Feelings, cortisol and good chemicals
Self care and stress bucket
Journalling
Work/life balance wheel
Endings, loss and grief
To study this course you’ll need an internet connection. This is so you can access our digital learning platform, Canvas. Your tutor will send you communications, upload materials, and set tasks through this platform.
After this course, you can progress to our accredited course in Stress Awareness or other health and social care courses such as Mental Health Awareness or Counselling. These can help you access jobs such as mental health support worker, youth counsellor, mentor, and support worker.
The WEA is a supportive learning environment. Your tutor will guide you through your learning and help you choose the right next steps for you.
