Course overview
Course description
This Maths course is funded for learners who are already employed or who are on a vocational programme working towards employment in a specific sector. This course is for West Midlands Combined Authority residents.
Multiply Maths for Care Workers is designed for those in the care sector or aspiring to enter it, focusing on straightforward maths skills that support daily responsibilities. The course spans 12 hours, balancing core numeracy skills with practical application through exercises in dosage calculation, basic unit conversions, and interpreting health data, including key indicators like BMI and blood pressure readings. Participants will also explore time management strategies and work through a case study to see how maths can aid in care tasks. Each session is designed to build useful, practical skills without requiring advanced maths, making it approachable and directly relevant to a care setting.
Note:This introductory skills-building short online course is not a full healthcare certification but offers a foundation in essential numeracy for care settings. It will familiarise learners with the role of maths in care settings, contextualising these skills to support those pursuing further training or accredited courses in the healthcare field. It’s also suitable for individuals currently in the care sector who want to refresh their foundational maths skills.
