Part of the WEA Art and About Festival 2024! Art Along the South Bank Walking Tour stops at the public sculptures along the South Bank which arrived on the riverside since the Festival of Britain in 1951. As well as the sculptures mounted on plinths in alcoves commissioned to adorn the exterior of the London County Hall, now a major tourist attraction. Discover one of London’s hidden gems, a totally un-curated sculpture park stretching from Westminster Bridge to the Royal Festival Hall. The meeting point is The South Bank Lion on Westminster Bridge Rd, and the walking tour will end on the Riverside Terrace at the Royal Festival Hall.

Course description

The Walking Tour will include stops at the following public sculptures along the South Bank:

3. King Edward VI, St. Thomas’ Hospital

4. Cross the Divide, St. Thomas’ Hospital

5. Revolving Torison, St. Thomas’ Garden

6. Mary Seacole, St. Thomas Garden

7. London County Hall, Belvedere Rd

8. The Dance, Westminster Park Plaza Hotel

9. International Brigade Memorial, Jubilee Gardens

10. Jubilee Oracle, edge of Jubilee Gardens

11. The Struggle is My Life, Royal Festival Hall (RFH)

12. Fryderyk Chopin, Royal Festival Hall (RFH)

13. Laurence Olivier, outside National Theatre

14. London Pride, outside National Theatre

15. Arena, outside National Theatre

16. Zemran, Riverside Terrace, RFH

17. Appearing Rooms, Riverside Terrace, RFH
