Explore this part of British history in this engaging, short history course.
This course is for early booking only.

Course description

The Festival of Britain provided light-relief to 8.5 million people who visited the main Festival site on London's South Bank and was well-received by those who attended the events that were held in cities and towns across the country. This seminar will explore the origins, intentions, construction and criticisms of the Festival, while highlighting the main events, exhibitions and popular experiences of the time.

Conceived in austerity and shaped by expediency, the Festival proved hugely popular, but was sadly short-lived and soon slipped into history.
