Course description
The publication in the 1940s of the book ‘Narrowboat’ by LTC Rolt is credited with having launched the post war movement to preserve and cherish Britain’s crumbling eighteenth century canal system. In this lecture, Alastair Clark recounts his recent attempt to re-create 92 miles of Rolt’s journey along the town paths of the canals featured in the book.The lecture will illustrate the changes and constants in the canal environment since 1944.
