It is designed to help you learn key verbal communication skills you’ll need for the ESOL level 2 speaking and listening course. Get up to speed with the advanced listening techniques and speaking skills you’ll need to tackle this ESOL course. Get ready courses help you learn English at your own pace. They give you extra study time for each level and module so you can reach your full potential. This is a non-accredited English course for adults. Course description

What we’ll cover

  • Develop your conversation skills in English to respond and adapt to the needs of the listener

  • Understand how to use stress and intonation to transmit nuances of meaning

  • Learn expressions to give and respond to criticism constructively

  • Explore ways to take the lead in a discussion and ask for opinions or move the conversation forward when necessary

  • Sharpen your listening skills by taking notes on key points from face-to-face conversations or recordings

This is a preparation course for the ESOL level 2 speaking and listening qualification. It is not an accredited course.

You need previous verbal communication skills to take this course, that’s why you’ll need to do a skills check to enrol. Don’t worry, this isn’t an exam. It’s for us to make sure you get on the right course for your level.

When you complete this introductory course, you will be ready to take the ESOL skills for life level 2 speaking and listening course.

There are “get ready” courses between each module to prepare you for the next course.

What to expect

This get ready for ESOL course takes around 40 hours to complete. It gives you more opportunities to learn the verbal communication skills required to get a level 2 ESOL speaking and listening qualification.

Please note that you’ll need an internet connection to study ESOL courses online and in person. This is so you can access our digital learning platform, Canvas.

Most of our courses are government funded but if you don't qualify or need alternative financial help to access them then let us know.
