Welcome to the, ‘Reading Skills course’. This course is designed for ESOL Entry 2/3 students to improve their English reading abilities. Over the course, students will practice reading various texts, including stories, articles, and everyday materials like menus and signs. The course focuses on understanding vocabulary, sentence structure, and main ideas. Interactive activities include reading aloud, group discussions, and comprehension exercises. By the end of the course, students will have enhanced their reading skills, built a stronger vocabulary, and gained confidence in understanding and enjoying English texts.

Course description

This Reading Skills course is designed for ESOL Entry 2/3 students to improve their English reading abilities. The course offers a variety of engaging activities to help students understand and enjoy English texts. Students will read different materials, including short stories, articles, menus, signs, and instructions. Key areas of focus include building vocabulary, understanding sentence structure, and identifying main ideas and details in texts. Interactive activities such as reading aloud, group discussions, and comprehension exercises will help students develop fluency and confidence in reading. Students will learn essential reading strategies like skimming and scanning to quickly find information. They will also practice making predictions and inferences to better understand the text. The course encourages critical thinking, allowing students to ask questions and share their opinions about what they read. By the end of the course, students will have significantly improved their reading skills and expanded their vocabulary. They will gain confidence in their ability to read and understand English texts. This course aims to foster a love for reading and equip students with the tools they need to succeed in their language learning journey.
